Resilience

 Résilience

 SR Labo présente : Résilience

10 2020  / Amour II  ( deuxième acte) / Galerie Eloïse (Paris 13e) /

Commissariat Laurent Quenhen / avec Ana Apostolska, Clément Balcon, Néel Beausonge, Boris du Boullay, Nancy Caramello Cyneye, Fabrice Cazenave, Gokce Celikel, Anne Cindric, Guillaume Dimanche, Harold Denneulin, Raziye Ghadimi, Lise Grosperrin, Agathe Herry, Emmanuelle Hiron, Katia Kameneva, Cendres Lavy, Frédéric Léglise, Laurent Mareschal, Connie Martin, Marc Molk, Julie Navarro, Sarah Navasse, Demetra Nikolopoulou, Tami Notsani, Marilena Pelosi, Marine Pierrot Detry, Eric Poupy, Jérôme Rappanello, Sarah Roshem, Spé, Anne-Marie Toffolo, Sandra Vanbremeersch, Jojo Wang, Dominique Weill

SR Labo presents Résilience, an intimate piece based on a childhood memory.
A friendship, a death, and then a whole new world of pain, guilt, denial, profound sadness and inextinguishable grief at the impossibility of mourning.
Resilience is a two-color piece, between two worlds, which will not be worn, but is intended to be symbolic and restorative. The brown ring is linked to the flesh-pink ring by a magnet that holds them together.

If the personal story is resilient, these two united rings become a means for spectators to project the stories they tell themselves: intimate, universal, timeless, unconditional...

Basar

 Basar

 SR Labo présente : Basar

06 2018  / Salo / Galerie Ycone (Paris 3e) /

Commissariat laurent Quenehen et Gwenaël Billaud / avec Joël Hubaut, Fred Forest, Pascal Lièvre, Bruce Labruce, Les Criminels David Blair, John Sanborn et URL FightersSR Labo, Chloé Silbano

Proposition

Proposition

For the 6th edition of Salo, SR labo presents Basar, an invitation to a handsome middle-aged couple to wear an openwork skin tunic - covering the front of the body but leaving the back bare - and spend a moment together in this state of undress in the 6 m2 studio, where there are 2 pedestals and an object hanging on the wall for the duo to grasp...

Inspired by the biblical iconography of the first man and woman, this filmed session is called Basar, which in Hebrew refers to the bodies of men, animals, all living things and much more. During the session, the couple improvise approaches, attitudes and movements towards each other to the music they have chosen.

SR Labo invites us to consider the following questions: What statue does this “model-couple” have? How do we look at these mature bodies? What about the place of men and women in this improvised role-play?  How do the models expose themselves and perceive their image and what it says?

Relax / projet

 Relax ••••

SR Labo présente : Relax ••••

08 2017  / appel à projet  la Tolerie (Clermont Ferrand) / NOT ACHIEVED

Relax---- is a floor piece of 8 large, colorful bath towels (1 m 50 x 3 m 50), reminiscent of a vacation and an invitation to relax. Padded with foam, these giant, comfortable towels invite visitors to sit or lie down on them, alone or with others. The 8 towels can be moved and positioned in space to form different surfaces and shapes at will. With its minimalist, colorful and geometric aesthetic, this work is also a work for visitors: it will have its own existence in the space - creating colored rectangles and polychromic surfaces on the terracotta-colored floor of La Tôlerie. It can also be used to accommodate spectators' bodies, allowing them to settle in comfortably during an exhibition, a performance, an intervention... It can also be used to take the time to observe Veit Stratmann's work on the ceiling.

Relax---- evokes vacations, relaxation, rest and daydreaming. The texture of the towels and the supple support of the bultex foam create body sensations that echo this evocation. The size of the towels is an invitation to share this moment with others, this colorful bath that feels good.

The work can also be stacked to leave space available for other variations.

Colloque Critical Compagnies

 Colloque Critical Compagnies

Sarah Roshem présente : SR Labo une entreprise artiste adaptée à ses milieux / SR Labo, an artist's company adapted to its environment

If SR Labo has been in existence for over 18 years, it's because it has been able to transform itself smoothly, consolidating its identity and developing new avenues.

In the past, the question of adaptation - the accommodation of an artistic proposal to an issue in the field - has led us to always consider the subject of the work in relation to its context: its place, its history, its audience, the exhibition theme... Today, we seem to have shifted to the side of this adaptation. It's no longer a question of making the work emerge by relying on its environment, but rather of proposing a work with a containing function, which creates its own spatiality and projective process.

SR Labo's new proposals, such as Corps commun, reflect this new modus operandi. As a result, it is attracting other communities, such as those involved in the dance arts, health care and the corporate world.

Bureau de

 Bureau de

SR Labo présente : Bureau de

07 2016  / Bureau de             / Galerie Gleichapel (Paris 3e) /

Commissariat Jeff Gleich

Curated by Jeff Gleich

The participatory performance “Bureau de Rachat”, originally conceived in partnership with a solidarity organization, has been modified and is now referred to as “Bureau de je ne sais quoi”. A project that deals with censorship and artistic engagement.

“How do you adapt to a crisis situation when a solidarity-based artistic project, conceived around associative support, turns into a moral trial of intent?

Le Bureau de Rachat - a stillborn project - rises from the ashes. It's a question of covering up the terms responsible for the failure of this initiative, to which we were fully committed, and covering them with words that breathe new life into the project.

The Bureau de Rachat thus becomes the Bureau de je ne sais quoi for the benefit of almost nothing. The reference to Jankélévitch thus links us to a way of thinking about irreversible time, where what's gone is gone. What's at stake for each person is what unfolds before them, the dimension they can act upon, their path to freedom.

The act of Rachat, this invitation to give that we were launching in the Marais district, will ultimately be an act of I don't know what, in response to this last-minute situation I have to face and react to.

And what if this new name kept alive the possibility of an act? An act that can't really be named, can't really be defined, in favor of the unexpected, an action to be seized, which will take place from June 25, as agreed.

I like their touch, their warmth, their smell, their breath, their presence... What is it, without seeing it, that allows me to feel an attraction towards someone, that makes me want to enter into a relationship with them, to respond to their approach towards me, to establish a body-to-body dialogue without speaking to each other?

SR LABO presents a participatory performance in which two volunteers meet and exchange ideas without using visuals or verbal language, but simply through sound and touch. To achieve this, we've designed two ritual masks inspired by shamanism (bells and bells, colored ribbons and pom-poms) - one white, the other black - preventing vision but allowing yellow or orange light to pass through. Each participant wears a mask and is also equipped with a maraca (a traditional shaman's attribute regarded as a mediating object which he uses as a place for the manifestation of spirits) to signal himself and his partner. Gathered together in the same space, each person sets off to meet the other, repeating the sound signals, the attempts to get closer, and the groping for physical contact.

The experiment ends when one of the two removes the mask.
