Relax•••• est une pièce au sol de 8 grandes serviettes éponges de bain colorées (1 m 50 x 3 m 50) qui nous rappelle les vacances et invite à la détente. Rembourrées de mousse, ces serviettes géantes et confortables engagent le visiteur à s’y asseoir, s’y allonger seul ou à plusieurs. Les 8 serviettes sont déplaçables et positionnables dans l’espace afin de former à loisir des surfaces et des formes différentes. Cette œuvre à l’esthétique minimaliste, colorée et géométrique, est également une œuvre à l’usage des visiteurs : elle pourra ainsi avoir son existence propre dans le lieu – créant des rectangles colorés et des surfaces polychromiques sur le sol couleur terre cuite de la Tôlerie. Elle servira également à accueillir les corps des spectateurs pouvant ainsi s’installer à leur aise durant une exposition, une performance, une intervention… Elle permettra aussi de prendre le temps d’observer l’œuvre de Veit Stratmann au plafond. 

Relax•••• évoque les vacances, la détente, le repos et la rêverie. La texture des serviettes et le maintien en souplesse de la mousse bultex procurent des sensations corporelles qui font écho à cette évocation. La dimension des serviettes est quant à elle une invitation à partager avec d’autres personnes ce moment ; ce bain coloré qui fait du bien. 

L’œuvre pourra être également empilée pour laisser l’espace disponible et créer ainsi d’autres variations.

Relax---- is a floor piece of 8 large, colorful bath towels (1 m 50 x 3 m 50), reminiscent of a vacation and an invitation to relax. Padded with foam, these giant, comfortable towels invite visitors to sit or lie down on them, alone or with others. The 8 towels can be moved and positioned in space to form different surfaces and shapes at will. With its minimalist, colorful and geometric aesthetic, this work is also a work for visitors: it will have its own existence in the space - creating colored rectangles and polychromic surfaces on the terracotta-colored floor of La Tôlerie. It can also be used to accommodate spectators' bodies, allowing them to settle in comfortably during an exhibition, a performance, an intervention... It can also be used to take the time to observe Veit Stratmann's work on the ceiling. 

Relax---- evokes vacations, relaxation, rest and daydreaming. The texture of the towels and the supple support of the bultex foam create body sensations that echo this evocation. The size of the towels is an invitation to share this moment with others, this colorful bath that feels good. 

The work can also be stacked to leave space available for other variations.

Si l’entreprise artiste SR  Labo existe depuis plus de 18 ans, c’est qu’elle a su se transformer en douceur, en confortant son identité et en développant de nouvelles pistes. 

La question de l’adaptation ;  l’accommodation d’une proposition artistique à une problématique de terrain, nous a engagé par le passé à penser le sujet de l’œuvre toujours en fonction du contexte : son lieu, son histoire, son publique, la thématique d’exposition... Aujourd’hui, un basculement semble s’être opéré du côté de cette adaptation. Il ne s’agit plus de faire émerger l’œuvre en s’étayant sur son environnement mais plutôt de proposer une œuvre à la fonction contenante, qui crée sa propre spatialité et son processus projectif. 

Les nouvelles propositions de SR Labo comme Corps commun rendent compte de ce nouveau mode opératoire. Celui-ci a pour conséquence d’attirer d’autres communautés comme celles des arts de la danse, du soin  ou encore le monde de l’entreprise.

If SR Labo has been in existence for over 18 years, it's because it has been able to transform itself smoothly, consolidating its identity and developing new avenues. 

In the past, the question of adaptation - the accommodation of an artistic proposal to an issue in the field - has led us to always consider the subject of the work in relation to its context: its place, its history, its audience, the exhibition theme... Today, we seem to have shifted to the side of this adaptation. It's no longer a question of making the work emerge by relying on its environment, but rather of proposing a work with a containing function, which creates its own spatiality and projective process. 

SR Labo's new proposals, such as Corps commun, reflect this new modus operandi. As a result, it is attracting other communities, such as those involved in the dance arts, health care and the corporate world.
